ALEX Napier chalked up the first try to put Hoppers ahead against Ormskirk, but despite the team's earlier possession his effort was wiped out.
Ormskirk made an immediate response, scoring straight from the re-start.
Strenuous pressure got Hoppers within inches of another try but they had to settle for a draw, a dropped point being as bad as a defeat in such a competitive, eight club tournament. The match eneded Grasshoppers U9s 5 Ormskirk 5.
In the match against Mold the final score was Grasshoppers U9s 0 Mold 30.
The eventual winners Mold had run in 56 points against the home club, so Hoppers conceding only 30 was something of a triumph, albeit not enough to hold a side unbeaten for more than two years.
Abd when Hoppers played Waterloo, the final score was Grasshoppers U9s 15 Waterloo 5.
Despite facing huge support from the host club, the side shot down Waterloo 15-5 in an exciting match only settled with Chris Ball's decisive score moments from the end.
The game swung from try line to try line, with Tom Livesey edging the visitors ahead in the first half before Waterloo equalised to much acclaim. Once again at a crucial time Alex Spratt demonstrated a clean pair of heels, turning defence into attack and sprinting for a breakaway try.
