I WRITE with regards to the letter from John Tomlin (March 11) about the threat to the British pound of sausages.
As usual, with people who believe they alone know what is best for us, they prey on irrational fears.
When was the last time that anybody bought an exact pound of sausages? The usual conversion in the butcher's shop will be something like: "A bit over the pound, that OK, love?"
Well, a bit over the pound is half a kilo or could it be a 'metric pound?'
The vast majority of Third World countries have already changed to the metric system.
