WHEN Parr High had to reduce its numbers - i.e. surplus places - it was decided by the LEA that the easiest option would be to remove part of its buildings. These were cordoned off and boarded up. Now the buildings are derelict and lie in a state of disrepair. Windows are smashed, boards ripped off, the roof has had its slates removed and is open to the weather. It is an eyesore and a fire hazard, why has it not been demolished?
The children who attend this school deserve a better environment in which to learn. When so many high schools that surround Parr High have had new buildings, this school seems to be forgotten.
New investment in bricks and mortar is long overdue. The LEA must invest in these children now. They deserve better. What are the council and the LEA going to do to make Parr High a better environment?
Paul Holland, concerned parent, Archer Grove, Parr.
