ANOTHER valuable home point was notched up by Blackpool on Tuesday night (March 16) after a solid performance against Bournemouth - a team tipped for promotion.
Goal-shy they may be, but the Seasiders continue to create chances and but for that final touch could have buried Bournemouth.
As you'd expect from a team in fourth place, the Cherries played some neat football and did look certain to break the stalemate first on 27 minutes.
Pool skipper Tony Butler came to the rescue, however, backtracking nicely to get in the way of a fierce shot from Mark Stein.
But for most of the match Stein and the other danger man Steve Fletcher were limited to barely a handful of chances.
Most of the first half chances fell to the home side, with Butler and Clark Carlisle both seeing headers cleared off the line and Simon Sturridge's first touch letting him down in front of goal after some good work from Junior Bent.
Brett Ormerod's second half volley was saved by Bournemouth keeper Marc Ovendale who also denied Andy Couzens, settling in well at right back, in the dying minutes.
They may have been unable to break the deadlock but boss Nigel Worthington said he was proud of his lads. "I was pleased with the performance, it's just the goals at the moment," he said. Everybody knows it, everybody says it.
"We've just got to keep going and try to sort it out."
On Saturday (March 20) the Seasiders travel to runaway division two leaders Fulham.
