MAKING a great start to the year are Howe Bridge Marlins.
Eight swimmers travelled to Barrow for the annual meet.
And Andrew Hurst, back after a break of several years, won the men's 1500 freestyle in 19 minutes 43 seconds.
Dave Reason finished in 21:29, Mark Blewitt 23:01 and Charles Entwistle 23:55.
In the ladies 1500 event Helen Unsworth swam 24:55, Liz Hopley 32:03 and Amanda Blewitt 34:58.
Sharon Entwistle swam her first race in the 1000 breaststroke, hitting 25:47.
The Marlins train on Thursdays (9.20-10.20pm) in Howe Bridge and Saturdays (5-6pm) in Tyldesley. Anyone interested in joining is welcome.
