A MAN who attacked a woman in front of her son, has been put on probation for two years.
Martin Daley, 42, got hold of his victim around the neck until she felt she could not breathe, Burnley Crown Court heard.
Daley wept as he told the court how he had become upset after his dog was flung from a multi-storey car park.
Sentencing Daley, who had no previous convictions, Judge Raymond Bennett said he was pleased he had been attending psychiatric appointments, receiving treatment, and more importantly thought he needed it.
He went on: "Violence towards a woman is always a serious matter. I accept you were not yourself at the time."
Daley, formerly of Oak Street, Colne, earlier admitted common assault. He had denied two counts of indecent assault against the same woman and been cleared by a jury.
Anthony Mazzag, prosecuting, said the victim was left with red marks on her neck and a bruised jaw. Daley had gone to her home and walked in uninvited.
