MATT Jansen was sure of two things after Saturday's win over Wimbledon - he was claimingthe second goal and Blackburn Rovers will not go down, writes Peter White.

Jansen was adamant that he had got the vital touch to send the ball goalwards, whatever happened to it between the two defenders on the line trying to keep it out.

And no-one at Ewood was arguing with him.

"We are not going to give it as an own goal that's for sure," said Kidd.

"And I would be claiming it if I was him."

Having suffered relegation with Crystal Palace last season, Jansen believes the current scrap will have a different ending.

"We have had a lot of injuries but we know we have a big-enough squad here," he said. "We are not worried about going down." Rovers' other goalscorer Ashley Ward is also quietly confident.

"We are starting to get players back now and that's a major thing for us," he said. "We won the game in the first half with some good football and were a bit mystified why we didn't capitalise on that in the second half.

"I don't know what happened after half time but, fortunately for us, we had done enough to win the game. "They made a couple of changes and had nothing to lose. They threw men forward but they have only scored one goal and didn't really have many chances.

"After such a good first half you are always looking forward to a good second half but it doesn't always happen."
