IN reply to Linda Green (Letters, March 9), the reason that Pets in Need is not in the telephone directory is because their service is entirely voluntary and they use their own phones, paid for out of their own pockets.
I am a carer with Pets in Need, which is a small registered charity run by a team of very dedicated people who make sure the animals are looked after by people like me who love animals. Before animals are rehomed, they are placed in a foster home and before anyone is allowed to take one of our dogs, the homes are thoroughly vetted.
These people work very hard for the welfare of animals and are always grateful for donations, however small. Animal Aid in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph on Saturdays supplies their telephone numbers.
