CONGRATULATIONS to the driver (that's debatable) who knocked down a black female cat at the junction of Wensley Road and St Mark's Road, Blackburn, on Tuesday, March 16, at about 8pm.

The cat was still alive and is now in the safe hands of a vet.

While I had pulled over to recover this poor cat, two cars and a wagon passed. All the drivers slowed down and gently avoided the cat. I assume they all thought it was dead.

How many, I wonder, if any, of those drivers, especially the ignorant buffoon who knocked this cat down, would actually stop and investigate the next time they see an injured animal sprawled in the middle of the road - or maybe a small child? Would they just drive off after a quick nosy glance?

As for the driver who injured this cat, he is not fit to be the litter in any cat tray, never mind drive.

MR FIELDING, St Mark's Road, Blackburn.
