I CHARGE all the political parties, including the so-called Green Party, with hypocrisy.
None of their politicians proposes a solution to reducing the greenhouse effect by realistic means. So far, it is that people should travel by public transport. What public transport?
Over the years, we have had people like Beeching destroying a comprehensive rail system, which meant more goods had to be transported by road - hence more pollution.
No politician is advocating that car manufacturers make more efficient cars that would go further per gallon, thereby benefiting everyone except the Exchequer.
If more people stopped using cars, the nation would grind to a halt - because more people now commute to their workplace and most of these are inaccessible by public transport.
Cars should be made to do more than 100 miles to the gallon. And the speed they are capable of going should be restricted to the top limit.
Why all the hype about cars being capable of doing 150mph - when the maximum speed limit is 70mph?
