HUNDREDS of householders snapped up cut-price home compost bins at an event organised by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
The sale at Witton Park, Blackburn, was part of the council's drive to increase recycling in the borough.
Around 1,600 composters were sold.
The bins, made of 75 per cent recycled plastic, can be used to compost everything from fruit and vegetable scraps to garden weeds.
The rich compost produced can then be used in the garden.
People in Blackburn and Darwen produce around 15,000 tonnes of green waste annually.
