I AM trying to trace relatives of master hairdresser James Holden who, in 1911-1913 and possibly later, lived at 36 Green Street, Darwen.
Some time between 1909 and 1911 he married Elizabeth Earnshaw, of 1 Hope Street, Ramsbottom. Their daughter, Gladys - my mother - was born at 36 Green Street in September, 1911.
I believe that, later, Elizabeth left James Holden and went to live with someone called James Verity, also a hairdresser, who came originally from the Leeds area.
They went to live in Marple, Stockport, in about 1913, taking my mother with them and she was brought up to believe that James Verity was her father.
I S DEEKS (Mrs), 7 St Johns Close, off Urwick Road, Romiley, Stockport SK6 3JU. Tel. 0161 430 8321.
