LEIGH RU pushed injury problems to one side as they beat Widnes 15-7.
With several players out of the reckoning, a reshuffled side did well against strong opposition.
Tries came from Lawrence Brickland and David Bullough with Chris Lee banging over a penalty and conversion.
Stephen Lee, Stephen Wood and Jim Bibby were outstanding.
The whole team will need to be just as outstanding on Saturday (3pm) when they face league leaders Stockport at Hand Lane.
The six Leigh teams face sides from Stockport, Moore and Crewe this weekend.
