PNE Girls Under 16s footballer Katie Anderton, left, has been selected to represent England in a forthcoming tournament to be held in the Republic of Ireland.
Katie, who attends Corpus Christie High School, is in the squad of 16 girls who will fly out to Dublin on April 1 for eight days, during which they will play Scotland, Wales, USA and the host nation.
These will be the first international caps for the girls who have previously attended training camps at Loughborough and Lilleshall.
This completes a great season for the attacking midfielder who is currently leading goalscorer for PNE girls and last weekend helped them to reach the Lancashire Cup final.
Her Dad, Paul, said: "This is by far her best achievement to date.
"We were all delighted that she has got this call-up and can't wait for her to go."
