A MOBILE phone con warning was issued at the last meeting of Culcheth WI.
Members were alerted to the fact that bogus engineers are ringing people and asking them to enter a series of numbers into their handsets - which allows the imposters to make calls at the owners' expense.
Mrs Norma Owen prepared the women for Easter with a cookery demonstration. She showed them how to make quick and easy cheesecake, simnel cake, hot cross buns and Easter nest cakes among other goodies.
The institute craft afternoon is on March 30, and the next meeting is on April 20 at 2pm in Newchurch Parish Hall when Mr Frank Bonser will ask "What Social Class Are You?"
Other activities upto August include a tour of the North West Water Treatment Plant at Rivington on May 5.
The Mossland Group meeting will have a talk on "The History of Wedgwood" followed by a trip to the factory on June 19.
On May 19 the group will visit the Bolton Octagon and on June 2 members can go on a bluebell walk.
July 20 brings a trip to see cheese making in Wensleydale.
New members and visitors are welcome.
