ASIAN radio and television journalist Tazeen Ahmad is backing Lancashire police's campaign to curb reckless driving during Eid, which starts this Saturday, March 27.
Tazeen, ethnic affairs reporter for Radio 4 Live and a familiar face on BBC2's Asian programmes, said she will back the campaign to put the brakes on speeding during the celebrations.
The force conducted its first campaign last year, following complaints about young Asian men driving irresponsibly.
Chief Inspector Ian Bell, head of the force's road safety department, said that road traffic offences rise during the Eid festival.
He added: "We have a proven problem in the parts of Lancashire where Eid celebrations are concentrated.
"While we don't want to spoil anyone's celebrations, we want people to understand why we've become so concerned about the irresponsible actions of a minority and hope they'll take the safer driving message on board."
Tazeen said: "I'm really pleased to back this campaign. I hope it will remind young Asian men to drive responsibly during Eid."
