HORRIFIED Prestonians have blasted a leaflet which has been sent to hundreds of households offering readers the chance to become an escort.

The leaflet, sent out by the Sunshine Escort Agency, offers locals the chance to earn £60 an hour "socialising with their clients."

But the Clean Up Preston Campaign has branded the campaign as "a form of prostitution which will disturb many people."

One resident who received the leaflet said she was appalled that such services were being solicited so publicly.

"They could easily attract perverts and cause all manner of problems, putting people at risk," she added.

"People shouldn't pay to spend time with other people. There is something seriously wrong if they can't make friends without bringing in a third party."

A concerned mother, who also received a leaflet, said: "My daughter is at university and I know she is struggling to make ends meet.

"I'd hate to think that students like her might be lured into escort work because of the big cash incentives. It is a big risk."

One rule listed in the four-page pamphlet is that the agency, based in Ashton-under-Lyne, takes no responsibility for the acts of the escort, which "may result in an incident of any nature".

Tony Mullet, of the Clean Up Preston Campaign, urged people to be very careful. He said: "If it is totally legitimate and is just about people going to the theatre with each other, then it should be all right.

"But if the firm is promoting paying for sex then the leaflets should be stopped."

Sunshine Escort Agency refused to comment.
