BLACKPOOL Council's successful Walk To and From School event, the Midsummer March held last year, has been followed by the 1999 Spring Walk which took place on Monday (March 22).
And the class or the year group which made the greatest contribution, could win a fun day at Blackpool Zoo in July.
Thames School held a special non-school uniform day, and schoolchildren dressed as hikers and ramblers to promote the benefits of walking to school for exercise and reducing traffic congestion.
Those who could not walk the full distance were encouraged to park away from school and walk the rest of the way.
