LYTHAM St Annes Hockey Club 1st XI travelled to Timperley for their final match of the 1998/99 season looking for a strong team performance. However, they were unfortunate to lose 6-0 to a well organised and determined Timperley side. The visitors created a few chances but Timperley were well in control for most of the game and scored some well-worked goals. To add to this disappointing result, LSA 1st XI may be relegated from their current league.
PLAYING in the Berrymans Lace Mawer North West Hockey League, LSA 3rd XI took on Bolton 3rd XI at Ansdell Arena. After a precarious start, the home side warmed to the pace of the game. Rattled by an early goal, LSA changed the game and equalised before half-time, Danny Woodman scoring following a superb run. From the start of the second half LSA took control and soon took the lead with Michael McCartney beating two defenders to set up a wonderful strike from Paul Willis. Their third goal came from captain Dave Nuttall's superb solo run for a comfortable 3-1 victory.
PLAYING at Church Road, LSA 5th XI took on Bolton in a tight match. LSA had more of the possession throughout the match, but there were very few clear-out chances, Andrew Bennett coming closest. However, a draw was a fair result in the final game of the season.
