THE search is on to find someone with the right face and voice to captivate visitors to a new £500,000 attraction at Blackpool's SeaLife Centre.
The centre is looking for someone with the sage-like qualities to convincingly portray the ancient Greek philosopher Plato in a spectacular new feature based on the Lost City of Atlantis.
The successful candidate will be whisked down to London to be filmed in a professional studio, telling the story of the rise and fall of the fabled sunken empire as well as collecting £100.
His features will be projected on to the blank visage of a golden statue of Plato, bringing the figure to life to recount the story a dozen or more times a day to visitors.
Manager Della Belk, said: "We could simply employ a professional actor for the job. But there are so many talented people out there, we'd rather give a complete unknown the chance to achieve a measure of celebrity.
"We're after someone who looks wise and whose voice has the clear tones and compelling qualities essential in any good orator."
Would-be Plato's can send photographs and brief cassette recordings of their voices to the seafront attraction and short-listed candidates will be invited for final auditions on March 31, when they will be expected to deliver the script suitably clad in togas.
