TEN workers at Burnley factory Burco Dean have gained nationally recognised qualifications after the company signed up to the Burnley Challenge Funded Employment and training Charter.
The charter offer a subsidy of up to £50 a week for 26 weeks to enable firms to further train their workforces.
Company production supervisor Freda Clough said: "Burco Dean implements and endorses the National Vocational Qualification throughout its work force and manufacturing processes, and as such encourages all employees to benefit from the training and certification they can gain.
"This has proved invaluable in helping maintain high quality products and promotes worker confidence across a wide range of tasks and age groups."
The charter can also help match a company's recruitment requirements with the skills and experience of people listed on a database.
Burnley Council leader Coun Stuart Caddy said: "The charter is also proving very successful in creating employment opportunities for residents in the Challenge Fund area. The charter has helped 1,646 residents find employment, has given financial support to 73 companies through wage subsidies and co-ordinated 116 training schemes."
