Rochdale 8 West Park 14 WEST Park reached their third Lancashire Trophy Final in five years thanks to this hard-fought victory.
They now meet Wigan, who defeated Warrington in the other semi-final.
Rochdale were clearly out for revenge after their narrow defeat in the NPI cup at Red Rocks last season.
This, combined with appalling conditions at Moorgate Avenue on Sunday meant there was no easy passage for West Park into the final.
Having the wind in their favour before the interval was decisive as Park led 14-0 at the half-time whistle.
Neil Kilshaw profited from a strong forward drive and quick passing and Paul Bailey snapped up a floated Rochdale pass to run 90 yards to the try line, Martin Strett converting both tries.
As the wind gusted to gale force and heavy rain arrived in the second half Rochdale opened their account with a penalty.
The home side were taking no prisoners and Park scrum-half Ian Pearce was an early casualty from a punch, Ian Worsley coming on as replacement.
Stern defence was the order of the day and Rochdale were limited to a forward try after a succession of rolling mauls as Park held out.
Oldershaw are West Park's visitors this Saturday in their final home league game of the season. Kick off is at 3pm and match sponsor is the Charcoal Grill. Dr Joe Chisnall sponsors the match ball.
