SIR, - I WAS pleased to read the letter concerning free TV licences for pensioners (Citizen, March 11).
Gordon Brown promised pensioners a better deal this year, but again we are getting a pittance of a pension rise of little more than £2 per week which is not much of a better deal.
May I also add that Labour promised the people would decide by vote on our participation in Europe and joining the single currency.
Why haven't we had this vote by now?
Tony Blair and his government are preparing to spend millions of pounds preparing for our future in Europe, but it hasn't been decided yet.
Let's have the vote now, before too much harm has been done.
Residents of Blackpool who feel as I do should write to Joan Humble MP at the House of Commons.
Mr A Alman,
Kirkstone Drive,
Thornton Cleveleys.
