PUPILS at Lancaster Girls Grammar have staged a mock election for a new intiative to encourage people to vote.
Sixth formers will act as poll station staff and candidates as a way of learning more about the electoral process.
The city council and parish elections will be held on May 6 and elections for the European Parliament will take place on June 10.
The initiative will also encourage people unable to get to their polling stations on election day to use a postal or proxy vote.
Advice and application forms for these votes can be obtained on the Elections Hotline on 582905.
