FOUR people were taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation following a fire at a three-storey block of flats in Millom Grove, Thatto Heath.
The fire broke out in the kitchen of one of the flats at 12.13pm on Friday, March 19. The occupier, a 75-year-old man, was helped to safety by firefighters and later treated at Whiston Hospital.
Three occupants of neighbouring flats - a 92-year-old woman and two men aged 38 and 60 - were also taken to hospital.
The blaze caused severe damage to the kitchen, part of the flat next door and three communal landings.
