BELEAGUERED householders on a Radcliffe estate have decided enough is enough and they want to form a residents' association to combat troublesome youths.
The plan has been spearheaded by Mrs Edith Smith (72) of Ringwood Avenue, who is sick and tired of teenagers causing damage and creating a nuisance.
"I have had to replace three fencing panels damaged by them kicking a ball against them.
"Other people have had their cars and hedges damaged," said Mrs Smith.
She has already got backing for an association from more than 100 people living on the Outwood Road estate.
"They are not little children, they are teenagers. But when you ask them to move you get a lot of four-letter words," said Mrs Smith.
She claims they congregate on the streets until 10pm during the week and all day at weekends.
Mrs Smith has organised a meeting to be held on April 16 at the King George Community Centre on Outwood Road at 7.30pm.
She said: "The purpose is to set up a residents' association so we can try to do something about the problems.
"There's a field the youngsters could play football on, so we might be able to get some floodlights."
Representatives of the police and Bury Council will attend and the meeting is open to all local people.
