LOCAL safety-conscious companies are being asked to follow in the footsteps of Radcliffe-based Trumeter.
The Milltown Street company, which manufactures measuring equipment, has put itself forward for a British Safety Council National Safety Award.
Now, the Council is inviting other businesses and organisations throughout Greater Manchester to enter its 1999 safety awards scheme - the biggest of its kind.
Applications are being sought from small and large enterprises, from the public and private sectors.
Winners must have lower than average accident rates, good safety policies and safety plans and commitment to health and safety at the highest board level.
They will be required to supply data to support their application.
So far, Trumeter is one of six local organisations in line for awards.
Winning companies will attend an awards banquet in London on May 21.
National Safety Awards entry forms are available from Annette Cross on 0181 600 5593.
