FED-UP up residents who joined forces to try to rid their community of traffic chaos have been promised action by council highway bosses.
More than 30 people attended a public meeting to debate possible solutions to problems in the Sandringham Road area of Darwen.
Managers from Azko Nobel Decorative Coatings - the company being blamed for many of the grievances - refused an invitation to attend.
Complaints included nuisance parking, lorries using narrow streets and speeding traffic.
Coun Simon Danczuk said: "The next step forward is for council officers, three local residents, and the ward councillors to meet the company's management and discuss possible solutions.
"At the same time the council will be examining what action it can take to address the problems. It is quite clear that residents in the area are having their quality of life ruined.
"This has gone on long enough and if the management of the company is serious about its commitment to the local community and the environment, then they will do all they can to resolve the matter."
A residents-only parking zone, one-way treatments, introduction of bollards and weight restrictions and alteration of kerbs were all put forward as possible strategies to be investigated.
The meeting with Azko Nobel is due to take place at the Hollins Road company on Wednesday, March 31.
