I WAS amazed to read that Burnley FC had decided to increase admission charges for next season (LET, March 25) and I would like to make a suggestion to the Board of Directors regarding this decision.

I think that a reduction rather than an increase would be more appropriate as a gesture of goodwill and apology, for what could only loosely be termed as 'football' over the past few seasons.

Why is the club losing money every week when the attendance figures are as good, or better than many in Division One.

Could it be that Stan Ternent is continuing a long-standing club policy of squandering the clubs resources by spending over the odds for highly paid inadequate players - as the league table proves?

More money again will be lost when these players are eventually sold on or paid off.

I and many other supporters hoped that, with the changes on the Board, that this disastrous buying policy would come to an end,. But after reading the comments of director Clive Holt, it is obvious that this is not the case.

I do not think that increasing the prices is the answer, as the attendance figures are bound to start falling with this decision. "You can fool some of the people . . . etc."

It is a mystery to me that successful businessmen manage to keep a well supported club with a high potential in the lower regions of the football world year after year.

This present ingenious scheme to fleece the Faithful Flock will alienate an already disillusioned support.
