"I DIDN'T realise how fast you had to work and how much high-tech equipment was needed to produce this newspaper."
That was the verdict of one student at the end of her tour of the Evening Telegraph.
A visit to see our newspaper being produced was on offer to students who were first to complete our literacy project in their school.
All year eight pupils at Ivy Bank High School, Burnley, have been working through our Super Story Search reading scheme and the school rewarded the first group to finish with a trip to our head office and printing plant.
"The daily delivery of the newspaper made a refreshing change of reading matter," said English teacher Joanna Vale.
"Pupils of all abilities picked up the paper and started to read straight away.
"Many of the articles stimulated discussion among our pupils and helped to improve speaking and listening skills, as well as those in reading.
"We all took the newspaper home after we had used it in school, so our parents got a taste for news reading too," said another pupil,.
"Now our family are regular newspaper readers."
