IAN McCulloch kept his dreams of a place in the televised stages of snooker's World Championships alive with a nailbiting victory over Barry Pinches in the seventh qualifying round at Telford.
The best of 19 contest went to the wire but the Accrington-based pro held his nerve to win 10-9 against Pinches, ranked 106 in the World.
And McCulloch rattled in a break of 144 along the way - the highest of the pre-televised stages so far - to put him in with a shout of a £2,000 bonus.
The World number 45 was set to take on Peter Lines from Leeds today in a bid to meet Gary Wilkinson for a place at the Crucible next month.
But Shokat Ali definitely won't be appearing in Sheffield after the Accrington-based professional lost 10-7 to Chris Scanlon.
