LOCAL people were given a chance to help shape the future as part of a major national project addressing issues connected with the ageing population.
The Debate of the Age event at Burnley Mechanics was told the next 20 years will see unprecedented increases in the number of older people. There will be more people aged over 50 then under 50 by the year 2030.
The Debate of the Age is co-ordinated by Age Concern with a programme of arts activities to raise awareness of the issues.
Local people are also being encouraged to give their views of issues affecting the elderly.
