AN insomniac who went out in a stolen car in the early hours was spotted sitting in another vehicle as it was being tampered with.
Burnley magistrates heard that the stolen Metro, which David Sutcliffe, 23, was in, ran out of petrol and an accomplice said they should "pinch" another car to get home again.
Sutcliffe, who offended weeks after being put on probation, sobbed in the dock as his solicitor told how he feared he would lose everything if he was sent to custody.
He was given "one last chance," by the bench, who told him he must have known the car was stolen - and should have said "No".
Sutcliffe, of Leyland Road, Burnley, was put on probation for 12 months and must pay £54 costs.
He admitted being carried in a vehicle taken without authority and interfering with a vehicle.
