NELSON had to settle for a share of the spoils in this North Western Trains Second Division clash against bottom of the table Oldham Town.

After an uncertain start the Blues soon settled into their stride and took a deserved lead on 35 minutes. A defence splitting diagonal ball by Kieron Roberts left Glen Little in a one-on-one with goalkeeper Dave Morris and the Nelson winger supplied a cool finish.

The youthful Oldham side had bags of enthusiasm and it paid off after 60 minutes when Alan Ward robbed Craig Whittaker in his own penalty area and, although his effort was blocked, Bradley Coe rifled home the loose ball.

As Nelson piled on the pressure in the closing stages, Ian Fleming created a series of chances in the Oldham goalmouth, but Dave Morris produced some fine saves when it looked as though the Blues would grab the winner.

In the last five minutes he somehow kept out a close range shot from Roberts and then managed to claw an Andy Howarth header around the post to ensure a point for his side.

Colne are in North Western Trains League Second Division action tonight against sixth placed Abbey Hey at Holt House. The match kicks off at 7.45pm.
