LEIGH RU gave champions Stockport a hard time before going down 16-10.

Two penalties and sloppy defence allowed them a good lead, Leigh's only reply a Mark Hudspith goal.

The visitors then forged further ahead but Leigh fought back and had the better of the exchanges, finally getting their reward when Ross Bullough cut through to score, Hudspith goaling.

Paul Whitworth and Stephen Wood had top games.

A party of 151 Minis & Juniors went to Ireland to play against Boyne and Greystones.

Saturday saw Leigh score victories against Boyne at 8s, 9s, 10s and 11s (the 8s introduced to tackling for the first time and showing up well).

More senior members then lost 22-12 in an exhibition match.

Some weary players reached Greystones on Sunday, but the 9s won their match 40-0.
