THEY'RE set for another smash-hit season at Tyldesley Tennis Club.
And they will be looking for more of the success they had in 1998 . . .
The A Team won, for the first time, the Walkden League First Division crown; in the Bolton League the A Team gained promotion to Division Two, while both the men's A & B teams won their respective Bolton League Divisional Knockout Cups; the Leigh League's A Team again won the First Division title.
It all made good reading for outgoing chairman John Turner.
New chairman, elected at the club's agm, is Alan Blackburn, with Dr John Turner (secretary) and Roy Pearson re-elected as treasurer.
The two artificial grass are now paid for with the club now ready for their next phase of development: a third court to be resurfaced in artificial grass, floodlighting of two courts and the reconstruction of the clubhouse to include a pitch roof and refurbished interior for a table tennis club.
Total cost is estimated at £86,000.
The club its club-school link with Fred Longworth High and is pursuing a similar link with St Mary's RC High.
These links include funding from the Lawn Tennis Association for coaching sessions.
New members are welcome. Contact John Turner on 0161-950-2395.
