AN 86-year-old pensioner from Bury suffered a dislocated shoulder during a brutal street robbery.

She was dragged along the road before the thief wrestled a shopping bag from the pensioner's grasp.

The theft happened in Cornall Street, between Walshaw Road and Tottington Road, Bury, at 10am on Tuesday.

Police say the elderly woman was approached and then pushed to the ground from behind.

As she clung on to her bag, the thug dragged the frightened woman along the ground before she eventually let go. The bag contained cash and other personal belongings.

The pensioner dislocated her shoulder and suffered a black-eye and shock.

Bury police have described the incident as "brutal and unprovoked" and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the theft to come forward.

The thief is only described as wearing yellow clothing.

His victim was treated in hospital before being allowed home.
