LEYLAND WARRIORS U10s 48 BURY LIONS 18
AN exciting game which was played away at Bury and produced some open rugby with good defence and attack from the Leyland team. Despite the opposition not having enough players Warriors dropped their match players to that of the Bury side, resulting in players not playing in their usual positions but the Leyland team adapted well.
WARRIORS U11s 42 SALFORD JUNIORS 12
WARRIORS put in a determined team effort to put behind them their previous week's outing when they were defeated 42-22 by Salford, reversing the roles to get a well-earned victory. In the second half excellent distribution of the ball allowed the Warriors to score almost at will without conceding a point.
WARRIORS U12s 14 CROSSFIELD (WARRINGTON) 26
THE scoring was opened by the home side breaking the full length of the pitch. A reply came from Dean Gallery after pressure from Warriors but the home side scored two again before half-time to go in 12-4. Crossfield showed the stronger tackling and higher commitment from the pack.
WARRIORS U13s 28 ORRELL ST JAMES 20
SCORING 20 points without a reply, Warriors were at their best, controlling the game. In the second half the Leyland team relaxed and let Orrell score but some excellent defensive play always kept Warriors in front.
WARRIORS U15s 10 LANGWORTHY 16
ONCE again these two teams put on a super display of rugby which could have been won by either team right up to the final whistle. Warriors opened the scoring with an unconverted try by Wayne Sumner. Langworthy then replied with two tries giving them a 12-4 lead. David Melling intercepted on the half way line and ran in Warriors' second try with a superb solo effort which was converted by man of the match Anthony Hughes who had another outstanding game in both attack and defence.
