A LEYLAND mobile takeaway operator has been fined £250 after a catalogue of hygiene errors were discovered during a routine inspection.

South Ribble Borough Council's environmental health section said its inspectors discovered an unacceptable level of uncleanliness and poor handling practices at Debbie's Diner, based in the Moss Side Industrial Estate, Leyland, November 1998.

The inspectors found:

Mouldy meat on the floor;

No soap or towel at the hand wash basin;

Cooked burgers stored at a temperature at which harmful bacteria can grow and

The vehicle in a dirty condition.

Owner Deborah Stirling, of Peacock Hall Road, Leyland, pleaded guilty to four charges relating to general food hygience and temperature control under the Food Safety Act 1990, at South Ribble Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 25.

Magistrates also ordered Stirling to pay the council's cost of £237. The court heard how the council inspection at Debbie's Diner revealed neither Stirling or her staff had received adequate food hygiene training.
