Colne 2 Abbey Hey 2
A DRAMATIC equaliser two minutes from time denied Colne victory against high-flying Hey at Holt House.
Kevin Scarborough had put the Reds in the driving seat with two fine strikes on his home debut but a fiercely struck free kick flashed past Mark Canning in the 88th minute to salvage the visitors a point.
Hey caught Colne cold when Maclean lashed a stunning 20 yarder past Canning inside the opening couple of minutes.
But the diminuitive Scarborough latched on to a poor defensive header in the seventh minute and cooly slotted the ball beyond the advancing Paul Lythe to bring the scores back level.
Canning survived a scare when one of his defenders deflected an effort onto the cross bar but from his throw out Sean Giblin found Scarborough and his volley from fully 30 yards rocketed into the top corner.
Hey had the edge in the second half and the Reds Tony Lawler was sent off for violent conduct in the closing stages.
And from the resulting free kick the visitors snatched the equaliser.
