LYTHAM Chess Club members were well represented in the recent Blackpool Congress with a record number of 14 players taking part in five of the six sections.
The best performance came from Kostas Domoras, who finished with the equal first prize in the Major section with 4 points out of five.
Darren Jones won a grading prize in the same section with four points.
In the league, the third team still have a chance of winning Division C. Their most recent match ended in a 2-1 victory against Guardian seconds, Guardian having only three players.
The fourth team also are aiming for the Division D trophy and kept on course with a 3-1 win against King Edward School seconds.
