RELATIVES and friends of Christopher Alder who died in a police station took part in a vigil to mark the first anniversary of his death.
His sister Janet Alder, who lives in the Manchester Road area of Burnley, and her supporters from East Lancashire, travelled to Hull police station yesterday.
Around 50 people took part and collected signatures for a petition for the "Justice for Christopher Alder" campaign.
Mother-of-two Janet is determined to find out what happened to her brother after he was arrested for a breach of the peace at a hospital accident and emergency unit.
Four police constables and a sergeant have been suspended but no date has yet been set for an inquest.
Andy Jarratt, chairman of the Humberside Police Federation, said he could understand the family's anxiety and frustration at the delay.
Police had started an inquiry almost immediately after Mr Alder's death. They were now waiting for the Crown Prosecution Service to decide whether or not to prosecute the police officers.
