Ruskin Park 40 Old Anselmians 18 RUSKIN turned on the style, to gain their biggest win of the season, in this relegation battle.
Held to just one try in the first half, by some resolute defence from the visitors, five further tries in the second period, saw Ruskin home with plenty to spare.
After an exchange of penalties in the first quarter, Ruskin took the lead when a long break up the middle by Feeney, enabled Flaherty to cross in the corner.
Although both sides went close on a couple of occasions, the only additions to the scoreline were a further penalty each.
Ruskin were soon on the board in the second half, when neat passing put Flaherty in for his second try. With a 10-point lead, they then began to open out play at every opportunity, and were rewarded with two more tries from Orford and Pilkington, who converted his own effort.
A landslide victory, looked a distinct possibility at this stage, but a spell of well controlled play by the visitors brought two tries to the big prop Miller, and a conversion by Taylor.
Suddenly, a real shock was on the cards, but the Ruskin pack found another gear and tries from Chris Pennington and Billy Parr, the second converted by Orford, put the seal on a fine all-round performance.
