A STAINED glass window in memory of Golborne's golden Scout was dedicated on Sunday.
The window at St Thomas' Church is a memorial to Arthur Topping who was awarded the MBE for his services to the movement.
Unfortunately Arthur died in June 1997 before he was able to collect his honour at Buckingham Palace.
Arthur, who lived with wife, Betty, in Barrowdale Road, gained the award in the Queen's Birthday Honours list .
Group Scout Leader for 50 years, Arthur was also a Licensed Reader at Golborne Parish Church, and a JP.
He was proposed for the award by fellow parishioners, a procedure that took 18 months to come to fruition.
Betty (pictured), said: "The window was commissioned by the Parish Church Council and paid for from donations at the funeral. It replaces a plain window on the right hand side of the church, near the vestry, and depicts everything he was interested and played a part in.
"I am very proud, but sad at the same time."
The window, made in Chorley, was dedicated by the Rev. Richard Plant, Rector of Golborne. 23/112/12a
