A 42-YEAR-OLD woman shopper was left staggered when a motorist drove up to her in a supermarket car park, grabbed her trolley and then snatched her handbag.
The incident happened in Morrisons car park in Baxters Lane, Sutton, at about midday on Wednesday, March 24, as the woman was returning to her Ford Escort.
She felt her trolley move and when she turned round she saw a motorist in a green Metro. Still driving the car he pulled the trolley away from her and drove with it for a few feet before stealing her handbag. The stolen shoulder bag contained £150 cash and credit cards. The driver of the car is described as white, big build with short, dark hair. He was wearing a dark coloured jumper or jacket, and police believe that there could possibly have been a woman in the car.
Anyone who may be able to help the police with their inquiries should contact DC Dave Littler at St Helens police station on 0151 777 6064, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
