YOUNGSTERS from Atherton SC competed in the first fixture of a new Junior Swim League season, facing Bury & Elton.
Many encountered a 33A metre pool for the first time and were unlucky in a few races to lose by a touch.
Bury won the match 57-50.
Swimming for the first time at this lever were 9/10-year-olds Karen Johnson, Carly Johns, Nicola Johns, Stacey Walters, Terrin Turner, Callum Hewitt, Louis Critchlow and Jordan Davies.
The 9/10-year-old girls won two of their three races.
The 12-year-old boys and 16-year-old girls were unbeaten: Mark Tabern, Martin Rimmer, Dean Jones, Iain Howard, Holly Davies, Heather Frederiksen, Rebecca Grime, Cheryl Hall, Hannah Foster, Rhiann Jackson and Natalie Rimmer.
