ATHERTON LR slumped to a disappointing 2-1 league defeat at Glossop NW.
"It was unbelievable," said bewildered boss Steve Cunningham. "I'm not making excuses because we just didn't play on the day and deserved to lose."
Steve Dixon was sent off after being injured in a tackle - an incident which had Cunningham fuming - Glossop had a player red carded for swearing at a spectator and LR equalised through Steve Bird. The Derbyshire side grabbed the winner five minutes from time.
SEVEN points from nine in just seven days have dramatically eased Atherton Colls' relegation worries. Manager Alan Lord said: "Bringing Paul Griffin and Paul Cox into the side has made the big difference." They beat Nantwich Town 2-1 with goals from Chris Arnold and Jason Holroyd. MoM Cox.
