HAVING buried their home hoodoo a week ago, Burnley are looking to make sure their first Turf Moor triumph in four months wasn't a flash in the pan against Colchester United on Monday.

Regardless of the outcome of their trip to Notts County today, the Clarets need to follow up last Sunday's win over Macclesfield Town with another maximum pay-out against the U's.

With just promotion-chasing Bournemouth and Fulham to come to Turf Moor after Monday's Bank Holiday clash (kick-off 3.00) it's crucial that Stan Ternent's men get some points in the bank.

And midfielder Lenny Johnrose sees no reason why Burnley can't make home advantage count in their favour again.

"I'm not really looking too far forward but putting me on the spot of course we are looking forward to winning all the home games," he said.

"People get a bit tentative when you haven't had the right results over a period of time.

"But playing front of this crowd you should be buzzing."

The effect of that last-gasp win over Macclesfield was noticeable around the Clarets camp this week, although there's never been too much evidence of moping about at the club's Gawthorpe training ground.

And Johnrose confirmed that a successful Easter programme would provide a further tonic to Burnley's relegation fight. "It would give everyone at the club a massive boost because everyone has been buzzing this week," he added.

Brian Reid and Andy Cooke may be added to the squad as Burnley look to complete a double over a Colchester side thumped 4-0 at Layer Road back in October, although Ternent won't want to rush the pair back. And their level of involvement is likely to depend on the result, form and injury situation arising from today's game at Notts County.

As with most clubs in the division, Colchester faced an important holiday weekend schedule as they have been sucked into the relegation scramble.

But a 1-0 win over Preston last night - their first victory in eight games - gave them a flying started and lifted the pressure ahead of their visit to Burnley, who were four points behind Mick Wadsworth's side this morning.

And an added boost for the U's was the fact that they kept their first clean sheet in 18 attempts as Warren Aspinall scored the winner to put a dent in Preston's automatic promotion hopes.

Wadsworth, a former teacher, has opted for double, double-French in his bid to keep United up.

He has three Frenchman and one player of African/French extraction in his squad, two of whom don't speak any English.

Ex-Carlisle defender Stephane Pounewatchy is joined by Fabrice Richard (ex-Martiguez), Steve Germain (ex-Cannes) and Lomano Tresor Lua-Lua and all but Germain are likely to be involved at Turf Moor.

More familiar will be the experienced Aspinall, who has also been re-united with former Carlisle boss Wadsworth after a spell with Brentford, and ex-Spurs and Ipswich midfielder Jason Dozzell.
