Lancashire Lynx 16 Barrow Border Raiders 58
LANCASHIRE Lynx suffered their biggest home defeat for a long time when they were on the end of a nine-try hammering from Barrow Border Raiders.
Despite taking an early lead Lynx had no answer to the ball handling skills of Tane Manihera and the rest of the Barrow team as they repeatedly tore through the Lynx defence..
After the game Steve Hampson was far from happy: "There was no organisation out on the field due to the loss of Phil Jones to Wigan and the injury to Neil Flanagan.
"Jason O'Loghlin tried his best to fill the position but he is not a natural scrum half.
"It is difficult with so many injuries and trying to bed new faces into the team." On the injury front he added: "We lost Simon Smith, David Jones, Tommy Hodgkinson and John Welsh during the game and all are very doubtful for the game at Widnes on Monday."
Lynx made the perfect start with a try and conversion from Dave Murray in the second minute.
This was the one bright spot in the half as Barrow took complete control with four tries.
The only reply from Lynx came from a Dave Murray penalty.
The Raiders completed the half with a 26-8 advantage.
Lynx reduced the arrears with a PJ Solomon try however injuries started to take their toll and with Manihera at the hub of everything tries again began to flow for Barrow. In the space of 17 minutes they ran in five more. Solomon scored a late consolation try for Lynx.
