LITERACY and numeracy skills have been given a boost in a Colne high school, thanks to our Newspapers in Education project.
A group of students in year 10 at Primet High School worked through our Super Story Search literacy scheme and used our Maths Motivation material as alternative text books in class.
Both projects include a daily delivery of our newspaper, along with work books, work sheets and supplements giving youngsters a taste of real-life learning tasks.
Free books for review, including many of the latest titles from publisher Dorling Kindersley, are given to schools ordering the literacy project.
"The material has proved very stimulating for the students," said deputy head teacher Mike Davies.
"Funding for the project has come from our single regeneration budget and we will definitely be making use of the NIE material again."
